Carpet Cleaning FAQ

Do I need to vacuum before my carpet cleaning appointment?

Yes, if possible. Vacuuming before your appointment helps our technicians better assess the condition of your flooring during the initial walkthrough and allows your professional carpet cleaning service to move more efficiently. Removing loose debris in advance also improves overall cleaning results.

How long will my appointment take, and how long will carpets take to dry?

Most residential appointments take between 1 and 2.5 hours, depending on the size of the home, layout, furniture, and condition of the carpet.

Thanks to our low-moisture cleaning process, carpets are typically dry within about one hour after service. Treatments such as pet stain and odor removal services may require additional drying time.

Will you move furniture?

Our technicians can safely move light to medium-sized items such as dining chairs, coffee tables, and small décor pieces. For liability and safety reasons, we cannot move heavy items such as pianos, china cabinets, entertainment centers, safes, or large bookcases.

We recommend clearing small items like toys, plants, lamps, and clothing before your appointment. During your walkthrough, simply point out anything you would like assistance moving.

What are your prices? Is there a minimum service charge?

Our pricing is clear and straightforward. You can view a detailed breakdown on our pricing page. We maintain a minimum service charge of $130 for carpet cleaning services.

What forms of payment do you accept?

We accept cash, checks, and all major credit cards, including American Express. We also offer a convenient online bill pay option.

What areas do you service?

We proudly serve most of the Atlanta metro area. Visit our service area page for a full list of locations.

When will my technician arrive?

Because of traffic and scheduling variables, we provide a three-hour service window. Your technician will call when they are on the way to your home so you can plan accordingly.

Can I add services like protector, sanitizer, or pet treatment on the day of my appointment?

Yes, in most cases. If time allows in the schedule, we can add services such as protector treatments, sanitizers, or additional areas. If you already know you’d like to include additional services like upholstery cleaning, tile cleaning, or area rug cleaning services, we recommend calling ahead so we can allocate enough time.

Are there materials you do not clean?

While we clean most carpets, rugs, and upholstered furniture, we do not clean leather, fur, seagrass, silk, jute, sisal, or certain natural fiber materials that may bleed or discolor. If you’re unsure about your material, we recommend scheduling an evaluation before booking professional rug cleaning services.

Do you clean apartments and high-rise condos?

Yes. We provide apartment and condo carpet cleaning services, including high-rise buildings. Whether you’re on the first floor or the top floor, our equipment is designed to deliver effective results without relying on traditional truck-mounted systems.

What makes Citrus Fresh different from other carpet cleaning companies?

Unlike many traditional carpet cleaning companies, we use a low-moisture, citrus-based cleaning process that leaves no sticky residue behind.

Our formula, powered by natural citrus cleaning agents, effectively removes grease, soil, and pet stains while helping prevent yellowing and fiber dullness. Because we do not oversaturate carpets, drying times are significantly faster.

We also believe in clear pricing. Instead of vague estimates, we provide exact pricing upfront so there are no surprises after your appointment.

I have pets that occasionally have accidents. What do you recommend?

Pet accidents require more than surface cleaning. Our pet stain and odor removal services target odor-causing bacteria within the carpet fibers, helping eliminate lingering smells and discourage repeat marking.

For immediate spot treatment before your appointment, blot the area and use a 50/50 white vinegar and water solution. Avoid soap-based cleaners, as they can leave residue behind.

How often should I vacuum if I have pets?

Homes with pets should be vacuumed two to three times per week to prevent soil buildup and fiber damage. The EPA recommends professional carpet cleaning at least twice per year in homes with pets and children to maintain indoor air quality and carpet longevity.

How often should carpets be professionally cleaned?

For most households, carpets should be cleaned every 12 to 18 months. Homes with pets, children, or heavy foot traffic may benefit from more frequent service from a trusted carpet cleaning company.

How long does carpet typically last?

Depending on quality and maintenance, carpet can last between 5 and 15 years. Routine vacuuming and scheduled professional carpet cleaning services can significantly extend its lifespan.

Should I clean my carpets before selling my home?

Absolutely. Freshly cleaned carpets improve first impressions and can make a home feel well-maintained. Many real estate professionals recommend scheduling carpet cleaning before listing a property.

What can I do to help my new carpet last longer?

Frequent vacuuming is key. Soil and debris act like tiny abrasives that wear down carpet fibers over time. Avoid spot cleaners that leave soap residue, as this can attract more dirt.

Routine maintenance combined with periodic cleaning helps preserve both appearance and durability.

What carpet materials are best for homes with kids and pets?

Synthetic fibers such as nylon are generally more resistant to wear and staining. Medium-tone colors can also help disguise everyday traffic and minor spills while still maintaining a clean appearance.

Do you offer commercial cleaning services?

Yes. While most of our work focuses on residential homes, Citrus Fresh also provides professional commercial cleaning services for offices and businesses throughout the Atlanta area.
